        Embarking on a journey in anesthesia is a formidable challenge for new residents. Recognizing this, we experienced firsthand the steep learning curve and pressure that comes with mastering the complexities of anesthesia. Confronted with limited resources tailored to the unique needs of beginners in this field, we realized the urgent need

Confronted with limited resources tailored to the unique needs of beginners in this field, we realized the urgent need for a supportive educational platform. This realization sparked the vision for "allaboutanesthesia.in" - a website dedicated to guiding and empowering the next generation of anesthesiologists. Our mission is to offer a comprehensive, accessible resource, simplifying the journey for those new to the specialty and fostering a community of learning and support.

This includes case-wise discussions to delve into specific scenarios, enhancing practical understanding. We focus on perioperative medicine and the ro

        Our approach to training new residents in anesthesia is multifaceted and dynamic. We offer a doctor's daily blog, providing insights into the challenges faced on a daily basis in the field. This includes case-wise discussions to delve into specific scenarios, enhancing practical understanding. We focus on perioperative medicine and the role of imaging in anesthesia, providing a comprehensive view of the specialty. Moreover, we explore newer techniques aimed at improving patient outcomes, directly addressing the specific challenges that new residents encounter in their early careers.

        Landmark guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block.

        • A  landmark guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block in a 5 year old with polydactyly for arthroplasty, corrective osteotomy and tendon realignment .A size 2 I-gel was inserted, patient kept under inhalational anesthesia comprising of O2+N2O+Sevo. Patient was painfree postoperatively and was elated to be reunited with her mother after surgery.Consent to publish taken from the child's mother. Dr. Ananya, Dr Pavan  managed the case u/g/of Dr OP Aditya  and HOD Dr. Ravi Goel at RIMS Raipur .

        Caudal epidural being performed in a child.

        • A 7 year old child posted for diaphyseal bone tumor under evaluation for biopsy.
        • I-gel size 2 was inserted and after positioning caudal epidural block was performed by Dr. Anisha.
        • Caudal Space confirmed with  Whoosh and Swoosh test by Dr Ananya and Dr. Nidhi.
        • Patient was painfree postoperatively.

        Patient was delighted to be reunited with her parents after surgery.(Consent to publish taken from parents of the child.)

        Assistant professor,Department of Anesthesia, performing a brachial plexus block.

        • A 45  year old male having multiple comorbidities, ASA-3,  with Left sided distal end of radius fracture posted for open reduction & Internal fixation.
        • Ultrasound guided Supraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block was performed by Dr. Arish Sadaf with assistance of Dr Ananya.
        • Patient was painfree during surgery and  postoperatively and expressed his gratitude to the anesthesia team.
        • For  the orthopedicians, a painfree postoperative period helped in easier assessment of surgical site  and rehabilitation.



        Awake surgery for occipital lipoma excision.

        • A 60 year old male with an occipital lipoma, posted for surgery was unwilling for General Anesthesia.
        • A modified scalp block along with infiltration was used for surgery while he was completely awake intraoperatively.
        • Patient was painfree intraoperatively and postoperatively.
        • He was really happy after surgery as he was afraid of getting surgery done in fear of general anesthesia.
        • Procedure was done by Dr pavan u/g/o Dr Abhishek and Dr. Ravi Goyal.
        • Published with patient's consent.

        PROCEDURES for CHRONIC PAIN

        A 35 year old male patient from Odisha presented with the complaints of restricted shoulder movement and severe pain on movement.On examination, it was diagnosed as a case of frozen shoulder following trauma. A suprascapular nerve block was performed. Immediately after the nerve block, the pain improved and there was increased range of motion .The patient lifted both his hands above his head without any pain or restriction with a huge smile on his face. Rehabilitated with physiotherapy.  

        PERCUTANEOUS TRACHEOSTOMY

          

        A 55 year old female patient, postoperative case of Frontotemporal craniotomy on prolonged mechanical ventilation.Percutaneous tracheostomy was performed with minimal tissue damage and bleeding. In such cases Tracheostomy provides improved comfort, reduced need for sedation, easier weaning from mechanical ventilation and faster rehabilitation. Procedure performed by the Anaesthesiology and Critical Care team, RIMS. Consent to publish taken from the patient's relatives. 

        Superficial Cervical Plexus BLock

        • Superficial Cervical Plexus block being performed  for intraoperative and postoperative analgesia in a case of Lt. sided Tympanomastoidectomy.
        • Drugs used- 0.25 % Bupivacaine with Dexamethasone 4 mg . Consent to publish taken from the patient and relatives. 
        • Patient was painfree with Multimodal analgesia.

        BrEAKTHROUGH INNOVATIONS IMPROVING PATIENT CARE

        A dedicated team of doctors, Department of Anesthesiology, at RIMS.

        A 40 year old patient with Carcinoma base of tongue with multiple level cervical lymphadenopathy with Nil mouth opening, with poor nutrition and health ,unable to eat since few months after multiple failed  attempts of Ryles tube insertion. Ryles tube was successfully inserted by the anesthesia and critical care team by an innovative approach.

        Tracheostomy being done in a case of Ca Floor of mouth.

        A 40 year old male, with Carcinoma of Tongue, presented with bouts of severe oral bleed, endangering the airway and hemodynamics. Oral packing  to suppress bleeding and tracheostomy to preserve airway and  to ensure ventilation, was performed by the team of doctors from RIMS, comprising of Dr. Ravi Goel, Dr. Aditya, Dr. Abhishek, Dr. Rupal , Dr. Anisha , Dr. Ananya , Dr. Priya and Dr. Vaibhav. Patient was stable and recovering postoperatively.
